The Opportunity
EDC is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and support for project accounting. This role requires construction accounting knowledge and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with project management teams. This role will be working closely with the Chief Financial Officer.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee job cost tracking and ensure accurate financial reporting across all projects.
- Manage the general ledger, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Lead the monthly close and reconciliation process.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in coordination with the CFO.
- Drive the year-end close and support annual audits in coordination with external auditors.
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax filings.
- Prepare and file business licenses, gross receipts reports, and annual reports.
- Act as backup for payroll processing and administer company credit card accounts.
- Process check runs and manage non–job costed accounts payable.
- Assist with the annual budget process.
- Maintain and enhance internal financial controls and drive continuous process improvements.
- Play a hands-on role in improving systems and procedures as the company continues to scale.
What We Expect from You
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the construction, engineering, or architecture industry.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency with construction accounting software, such as Sage 300 and GCPay (experience with similar tools is also acceptable).
- Strong understanding of % complete, revenue, and WIP reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and other internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to strategize and implement solutions quickly.
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
