Alexander Mack Memorial Library served as the home for Bridgewater’s library services since its construction in 1963, but as the college expanded so too did its need for a “next-generation library.”

EDC was retained by the college to assist in the large-scale renovation and addition- the existing 33,000 SF library was completely overhauled and capped off with a 10,000 SF addition. The John Kenny Forrer Learning commons serves in all of the capacities of a typical library, but so too houses a myriad of technology support, academic assistance programs, group meeting and quite study spaces, media production areas, and classroom space. The addition houses Smitty’s Cafe, complete with an eye-catching ten-foot-long gas-burning fireplace.
